Project Overview

Located in the heart of Fremantle, the Carnac St House, affectionately known as the White House, is a minimalist yet expressive residential project that redefines suburban living. Designed by acclaimed Fremantle-based practice Space Agency, the home is a study in restraint, clarity, and spatial generosity.

The project was recognised by the Australian Institute of Architects for its elegant simplicity and thoughtful response to site and climate. Central to its success is the integration of Alspec’s premium aluminium systems, which support the architectural vision while delivering high-performance outcomes.

Alspec Systems

To meet the design intent and environmental demands of the project, the following Alspec systems were specified:

• Swan Evo Hinged Door System
  Used for external access points, Swan Evo provides a clean, modern aesthetic with robust performance. Its configuration supports both single and double door setups, contributing to the home’s seamless spatial flow.
• ProGlide UltraFlat Sliding Door System
  Installed to create expansive openings between internal living areas and outdoor courtyards, ProGlide UltraFlat offers a flush sill detail that enhances accessibility and visual continuity. Its high thermal and acoustic performance makes it ideal for Fremantle’s coastal climate.

These systems were fabricated by ZaZa Aluminium, ensuring precision installation and alignment with the architectural detailing.

Design Highlights

The White House is defined by its crisp white exterior, restrained material palette, and carefully framed views. Internally, the home is organised around a central courtyard, allowing natural light and ventilation to permeate every space. The architecture prioritises calmness and clarity, with each element contributing to a cohesive whole.

Alspec’s systems play a vital role in this composition. The ProGlide UltraFlat sliding doors dissolve the boundary between inside and out, while Swan Evo doors provide secure, elegant transitions throughout the home. Together, they support the project’s emphasis on openness, simplicity, and performance.

Construction & Collaboration

Assemble Building delivered the build with a focus on craftsmanship and detail, working closely with Space Agency and ZaZa Aluminium to ensure the integrity of the design was maintained throughout construction.

The Carnac St House (White House) is a compelling example of how architecture, materials, and craftsmanship can come together to create a home that is both timeless and responsive.
